Infant Baby Swing

Infant Baby Swing

A baby swing is not an essential parenting tool, but believe me it’s something I wouldn’t do without. Any infant can use these swings up to the weight of around 25 to 30 pounds.

There are many different types of swings for babies and infants with many different modes and functions available.

We have taken the time to test out the best models and review them for you, this will help you understand which one is the best to buy your little one.

The most important aspects to keep in mind when buying a baby swing is the swing motions, and the seating position.

What do I mean by this? You need to ask yourself two important questions when looking to buy the best baby swing, they are:

  1. Does the swing motion in two directions?
  2. Does the swing seat recline into different positions?

Without knowing the answers to these questions your baby will not like the swing and you will waste your money.

A swing that operates not just back and forth or side to side but both is best, some babies just like one or the other motion. You will not know what your baby likes until it uses the swing, so getting a swing that does both motions is the better choice.

Some baby swings do not recline and mean your baby is seated in the same upright position at all times, this is very bad for fussy infants. Getting a swing where the seat reclines is important, it ensures your baby will be comfortable at all times. This is especially important if you have a baby that suffers from colic or reflux.

#1 Fisher-Price Sweet Snugapuppy Dreams Cradle ‘n Swing

Fisher-Price Sweet Snugapuppy Dreams Cradle n Swing INFANT

Check Price

As far as price goes for this one, it’s mid range. It’s not the cheapest option and it is certainly not the most expensive at just over $100 to buy.

This is the most popular baby swing ever made, and there is a great reason for this. Remember the two buyer questions I mentioned earlier? This ticks all the boxes.

The swing motions from side to side or head to toe, so you will not waste money if your baby only likes one or the other sway feelings.

The swing can be set to operate at 6 different speeds, our test baby absolutely loved the fastest setting, of course not all babies will be like this. So, you have he choice, which is very important.

The seat can be reclines into a few different seating positions, the big deal breaker here is the ease in which this can be done. Just press a button and the seat flips into different seated positions, you are sure to get a comfy baby.

The seat has added extra padding, why is this important? Well if you have a small baby it means they can use it too. As the little one grows you simply remove the padding giving them more room.

I should also mention that the covers and fabrics can be removed for cleaning and are all machine washable.

Our test baby was mesmerized by the over head toys which move around, the sounds had the infant giggling too until it fell over to sleep. This swing is going to be a life saver to you, it will help you get some much needed rest.

One big negative is that the swing does not fold down, you have to take it apart. However, it’s easy to take down and does not take up a lot of floor space anyway.

#2 Graco EveryWay Soother Baby Swing with Removable Rocker, Tristan

Check Price

This swing is not as popular as the Fisher Price model reviewed above, however it comes very highly regarded indeed.

The reason it is in the top two is because it answers our two buyer questions. It does swing in different directions and the seat can be reclined.

In fact the swing boasts that it has been set up to swing the infant in eight different ways, we found this to be true through our tests.

It offers a huge 16 soothing different motions, it can arch, swing, bounce, do a figure of eight motion, circle, wave, zig-zag and sway. This is what made us want to test it out.

The big questions is did out baby love these motions? Yes, but not all of them. The wave motion was too much jerking around for our little one, it could not settle in that motion. But it loved all the rest, it’s a great swing.

The seat can also be removed and used as a simple rocker, so is considered a swing and rocker combined. The price is around the $150 mark, depending on where you purchase from.

It moves in any of the listed motions at 6 different speeds, our baby enjoyed them all. It’s a great swing and for the money is a good choice.

All fabrics can be removed too and are machine washed. The swing has 3 recline positions too, perfect for colic babies.

Many say it is the best swing they have ever bought, I agree it’s good but not quite as good as the Fisher Price model.

Tip: use a long range baby monitor with cameras to keep an eye on your baby in the swing at all times.
